Scuppered in performance. Keen-eyed readers
will realise that this is not the John O'Gaunt. Apparently the
band also play on trains. Pic

Scuppered
Folk Night at the John O'Gaunt, Market Street, Lancaster
Thursday 27 April 2006
The civilised and knowledgeable audience at the John
of Gaunt was excellently entertained by the Sheffield four piece band
Scuppered.
Consisting of two guitarists, a piano accordian
player, and electric bassist, Scuppered play an eclectic mix of material
from Morris type through to Eastern European type
instrumentals and largely contemporary songs performed
in a folky manner, with some really impressive close
harmony singing.
Scuppered certainly proved that
there is far more to Sheffield than Joe Cocker and
added to the superb real ale and good company. The only
thing missing from the evening was pewter tankards!

More about the band:
Born from the ashes of the highly
successful "Bourgeois Zoo", Scuppered were formed in the summer of
2005. Peter, Andy and David are joined by John Hodge of "The
Call".
Between the Scuppered members there is a long history of
involvement in Folk music as performers and promoters.
Based in Dronfield,
situated between Sheffield and Chesterfield in the UK, Scuppered cover
material from a wide range of sources from traditional folk, 1960’s
pop, contemporary folk, to Country and Scottish dance. Plus inspired,
innovative original material with more than a smattering of the bands
enthusiastic humour thrown in for good measure.
