Dramatic mist surrounded the Ashton Memorial at Williamson Park on Saturday afternoon, but despite the drizzle many folk made the dreamy climb up to the Comic Book Art Showcase.
The Memorial was a perfect choice of venue for the afternoon, which was well attended and impressively organised by Ant and Mercer. There were many stands displaying work by talented local and visiting artists. Illustrated comic books, t-shirts, talks, workshops and demonstrations were to be enjoyed by all, with freebies too! The friendly and relaxed atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Folks arrived and stayed, giving well-deserved attention to the talented creators of the excellent works on display.
Before I left, I managed to grab myself one of the last copies of 'The Flowfield Unity', a superbly illustrated and witty comic book produced by one of the event's exhibitors, Adam Gregory.
The Flowfield Unity, with its smart glossy cover, distinguished black and white print and astute use of space, sarcastically leads you to the realm of down to earth, eccentric, creative delight. I rate it 5/5 and wait impatiently for the next publication.
