Access Services which One Voice now provide are as follows: Access Guide for the district, which is updated annually and is available in hard copy, via email or website www.onevoicedisabilityservices.org and is being distributed through Tourist Information Centres. It is intended as a reference document for local people and visitors to the area to give key information on accessibility within the district. Access Training and Support, we can deliver a variety of support packages, we are happy to visit to discuss current access arrangements and make suggestions on how they could be improved. We can provide a training package to increase Disabiltiy Awareness.

Free Handyperson Services in the Lancaster and Morecambe Bay Area
for people with disabilities.
Lancaster City Council is offering, free of charge, the services of
a Handyperson to carry out minor repairs and general maintenance around
the homes of people who are disabled or over the age of 60 years. The
scheme operates throughout the whole of Lancaster District and residents
in
Morecambe’s Poulton Renewal Area are able to access the scheme,
regardless of age, if they receive certain benefits. Further information

Holidays Enable
Holidays offer special package holidays for people with disabilities,
with special provision of transport, accommodation and leisure facilities.
Enable Holidays is only bookable via a telephone booking number: 0871

offers a guide to holiday destinations rated for mobility on a scale
from 1 to 3. The charity Scope
receives a percentage of their booking + insurance fees, and you can
get more info from their Charity Shops.

The special bottle is kept in the fridge of a person who is alone or
vulnerable and contains vital information about illness, allergies,
medication, doctor, next of kin, pet info and any other information
that might be useful to someone called to the house in an emergency.
All emergency and relevant services locally know to look for it. Collectable
from your chemist or health centre.

Disability Database
A Lancashire County Council Resource For Children with Disabilities
and their Families
Inclusion on the database for families is voluntary and will not affect
any entitlement to services currently being received. The database includes
children with any disability up to 18yrs and provides information for
them and their families.
The benefits for families are a free regular newsletter delivered to
your door and a Directory of service providers.
The database is confidential, no information of any individual entries
will be revealed.

Lonsdale District
Carers Association Support organisation for those caring for a sick or disabled
person. They organise coffee mornings, outings and special events such
as 'pampering days' where nice goodies such as aromatherapy etc are
laid on and activity days with special tutors / organisers - all relevant,
light-hearted. There are special meetings for rural carers. You can
also get different therapies (ie massage) for only £5.

Unique
Unique is a Social Group for young adults with disabilities aged between 18-25 and their friends, predominantly from Lancaster, Morecambe and Heysham areas of Lancashire. The group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at The Cornerstone, Sulyard street Lancaster. We have just recently set this group up (Spring 08) and we hope it takes off.
